Who makes smoothies when it is -4°F (-20°C) outside?
Yes, there are islands of ice floating down the river and I can’t pass up ice cold smoothie morning.
So, I have read that drinking ice cold water burns calories because your body must use energy to heat this water and your body up.
Though drinking a smoothie that contains calories might not exactly be ice water, I suppose that drinking ice cold smoothies also make the body use energy to warm up. Well, it works logically in my mind!
Very Berry Smoothie
1 banana, frozen
1 handful (about 1/3 cup) frozen mixed berries (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry)
1 single-serving plain Greek yogurt
1/2 tsp wheatgrass powder (PINES is what I use)
1/4 tsp Dark Mint MacaForce powder (from HealthForce Nutritonals)
1 scoop Açai berry powder
1-2 Tbsp Coconut Secret Coconut Nectar
1 handful ice
Water, enough to blend (I just fill the empty yogurt cup)
Blend until smooth.
Happy Eatin’!
