The first thing I must say about Garden of Life‘s RAW Protein & RAW Meal is that they are LOADED with vegetarian nutrients made from WHOLE foods. So, if you are traveling, this would be a thing to add to your pack to nourish your body anywhere you go. You can simply add the powder to water or neutral beverage of your choice.
These RAW powders come in four different flavors:
• Vanilla Chai
I was excited to sample Garden of Life’s newest option, the Vanilla Chai flavor. I absolutely love spices, especially Chai spices!
Looking at Garden of Life’s RAW Protein & RAW Meal, I was excited to see a large variety of sprouted vegetarian proteins. Both are full of Brown Rice, Amaranth, Quinoa, Millet, Buckwheat, Garbanzo, Lentil, Adzuki, Flax, Sunflower, Pumpkin, Chia, Sesame & Cracked-wall Chlorella.
For someone like me, with gluten & lactose sensitivities, it is always important to get in good probiotics and enzymes to aid in healing the guts and creating a thriving food-assimilating environment.
The difference between the RAW Protein & the RAW Meal is that the meal contains added natural fiber, fruit & green vegetable powder on top of all the gluten-free grains, seeds & legumes. And since all these ingredients are sprouted and raw, they contain the highest amount of quality, digestible nutrients.
What’s so good about Protein?
Proteins are important for growth and repair of cells in the body. Whether or not you consume meat, quality vegetarian protein is beneficial to the body. It used to believed that we needed mass amounts of protein to be healthy, but “a diet high in meat can contribute to high cholesterol levels or other diseases such as gout”. As with everything, it is important to take protein in moderation as a “high-protein diet may also put a strain on the kidneys”. Read more on protein here.
